Unsteady belly, we have all been there and that is not really something anybody wants. We want our stomachs to be steady and calm, doing what they are supposed to do in a very efficient and quiet way. Not require any attention to keep up but leave us in peace to do lots of fun and useful things in life. Unfortunately for many this is not the reality today and much of it is due to the overgrowth of Candida yeast in the body.
Not everybody with unsteady belly has Candida overgrowth but it is very prevalent due to excessive use of sugar and antibiotics so it might be the first thing to look at. Therefore, everyone who experiences discomfort in their stomach areas can benefit greatly from learning to control their microbiome and this is what Candida diet is all about. The way I coach Candida people is using food as medicine, I don’t give supplements but just food for the purpose of healing your belly.
What happens in your gut area is a complex matter, a balancing act. Complicated bodily messages from one substance to another, bacteria, proteins, food substances etc and allergies, intolerances and sensitivities go back and forth without us knowing anything about them. It is an ever evolving and transforming adventure and a lot yet to discover.
When it comes to practicalities what to do to help your own system, there is a lot of information available. Unfortunately, a lot it contradicts itself. I think that as it is a balancing act there are no hard and cut rules: something in moderation may be tolerable or even good for you but taken in larger quantities it can do a lot of harm. Some rules of the thumb are: sugarfree food, salads and good amount of fibre are always good. Always harmful are alcohol, sugars, refined flour. Tea and coffee come into the balance, they may be tolerated in small quantities if your gut is well populated with good stuff, like with many other foods too.
